Wow. 62,000,000 views?

At the time of this posting, this video has racked up over 62 million views. Not my favorite club hit, but a catchy little diddy I suppose. Interesting study in what is successful these days. I know this tune is immensely popular in Europe. Bassshunter is known for doing a lot of club dance stuff with vocal hooks in a variety of different European languages. This one happens to be English, and the video is a simple concept telling a story that almost everyone can relate to. Simple yet effective. I’m always fascinated to see what works and what doesn’t.

Kelby and I take a tour of his new space at Effusion Studios. This will also be the new SONIC IMPULSE rehearsal space, as well as the recording spot for the upcoming SONIC IMPULSE EP. Kelby runs a great recording studio, and i would highly recommend his services to anyone looking for a top-notch recording. www.effusionstudios.com

The Power of Modern Technology
by Administrator on May.29, 2009, under Random Art and Media
So, I am not a J.R.R. Tolken enthusiast. However, I really enjoyed all of his novels, and especially thought the recent films on the Lord of the Rings Trilogy were absolutely fantastic.
This is a film I just watched on you tube, that was put together by small independent film company. It is advertised as an unofficial fan film. The budget was less than $5000 dollars. What is the most encouraging to me about this film is the incredibly high production and artistic quality of the finished product. I am AMAZED at what was accomplished for the amount of money and resources involved. Modern technology is balancing the scales between the independently producing artist and the major entertainment corporation……as it should be. Big business has had the monopoly on good media for far too long.
Anyway, even if you don’t watch the entire 40 minute film, click on various points in the time line to check it out. Soundtrack, film quality, acting, costumes, and even CGI (that’s right, I said CGI) are superb. Comparable with a lot of lower budget hollywood films. Kudos to the makers of this beautifully crafted project.

Oh my God, THE HISTORIAN HIMSELF
by Administrator on May.17, 2009, under Random Art and Media
The Historian Himself, a rapper and hip-hop artist that I have mentioned here before, just dropped his debut album, “Earth Beasts Awaken”. Real name Brian Engh, he lives in Los Angeles, and is a multi-talented artist, film maker, animator, etc. His work tends to focus on the subjects of paleantology, dinosaurs, monsters, ancient earth history, etc. Fascinating stuff. I just listened to his full length album last night………..HOLY SHIT……..this is one of the most creative and enjoyable hip-hop albums I have ever heard. Gritty, real, interesting, energetic, and just outright brutal. His vocals stylings and rhymes are well thought out, intense, vital, and completely musical. And the hooks…..wow. This is top notch art by a top notch artist. He produced the entire album himself on his laptop, and the gritty home grown quality of the recording actually adds an urban element to this album that I really dig. The entire album is available for free download at his website. Here is the link, I would highly recommend you go get it. http://dontmesswithdinosaurs.com/

Old video, but I just found it. Entirely done in Lego stop motion animation. Cool idea, and a TON of work.
Another one….

This is old news by now, as it was on Saturday Night Live sometime last year. But, if by some chance you haven’t seen it, it’s worth taking two minutes out of your life to watch it right now………….
